An all time favorite recipe of kids as well as elders. Perfect for movie or cricket get togethers with Friends and family. The secret to a great homemade pizza is the perfect pizza base dough. Go ahead and try this recipe.


Preparation Time : 15 minutes
Dough resting time : 1 hour
Serves: 4 persons

For pizza base dough:
Refined flour /Maida : 1 and 1/2 cup
Instant Yeast  : 1 teaspoon / Dry yeast : 1 tablespoon
Water as required for making dough
Olive oil : 4 tablespoons
Salt as per taste
Sugar : 1 teaspoon

For topping: (as required)
Capsicum sliced, Onion sliced, Tomato sliced, Black olives sliced, Paneer small cubes. * You can use your favorite topping like soyabean, tofu, chicken or with any other vegetables of your choice.
Mozzarella/ Pizza cheese as required

For pizza sauce:
Tomatoes: 1/2 kg
Olive oil : 3 tablespoons
Onions : 2 medium chopped
Garlic : 1 tablespoon chopped
Dried / fresh basil : 1/2 tablespoon
Dried oregano : 1/2 teaspoon
Salt as per taste
Pepper powder : 1/2 teaspoon
Sugar : 1 – 2 teaspoons (optional)
Tomato ketchup : 2 tablespoons

For serving: (as required)
Fresh or dry basil leaves
Dry red chilli flakes

Method :
For pizza sauce :
Boil tomatoes in a large pot of water. Peel the skin and Chop the tomatoes. Heat oil in a pan. Add onions and cook until light brown. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add the tomatoes, basil, oregano, salt, pepper and sugar (if using) and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to maintain a simmer and cook until thickened to the consistency of pizza sauce. Transfer the sauce to a blender, add tomato ketchup and blend until smooth. The pizza sauce is ready to be used.

For pizza base:

In a bowl, mix flour, salt and yeast. Add the active yeast or Dissolve dry yeast in a little lukewarm water and add salt and sugar in it. Let the dry yeast get activated for 5 minutes,  you will see small bubbles. Now add more lukewarm water and olive oil to the flour and mix.Make a smooth dough. Knead for 5 minutes. Keep aside covered with a cling wrap. Preferably in a warm place. 

After an hour, the dough would have doubled and risen. Now Preheat the oven/ microwave to 200 degree Celsius. Knead the dough smoothly and in a well floured surface, roll out into thick pizza base while dusting the surface if sticky.
Transfer the base to a greased plate which has been sprinkled with some flour. Spread the pizza sauce in the middle of the base and spread some grated cheese. Now arrange your favorite toppings as desired in a pattern and top with more grated mozzarella cheese.

Bake for 14 – 15 minutes in a preheated oven/ microwave until the cheese melts and pizza turns golden in colour. Take out from the oven and top with oregano, basil leaves and red chilli flakes, cut into triangles and serve hot.
