This is one of my favorite deserts. There are many ways how you can make this recipe but I guarantee the below recipe would turn out to be super delicious rather then using Mawa, Khoya or milk powder. I have used condensed milk instead and dropped sugar as the condensed milk is already sweetened. Try it out and serve your guests to get their appreciation!

Preparation Time: 30 minutes

Serves: 4-6 persons



Carrots / Gajar : 1 kg washed, peeled and finely grated

Milk: 1/2 litre

Condensed  Milk : 200 grams (I have used Nestle Milkmaid)

Desi Ghee : 3 tablespoon

Kaju /Cashewnuts : 2 tablespoon chopped

Kismis/ raisins : 2 tablespoon

Badam / Almonds : 2 tablespoon sliced

Kesar / Saffron : 1 pinch around 7-8 strands soaked in 2 tablespoon lukewarm milk

Golden / Silver leaf / Varak : 1 leaf for garnish (optional)


In a pan add the carrots and milk and cook on low flame till the milk evaporates. You can also pressure cook for 2 whistles.

Now add the condensed milk and cook till the condensed milk evaporates while stiring occasionally. Add the Ghee, mix well and cook on low flame for another 5 minutes.

Check the sweetness, if you want it to be a little more sweeter then add little sugar as per your taste. Add the raisins, cashews and almonds and mix well.

Garnish with Golden / Silver leaf / Varak and serve hot or at room temperature.
