This is an Italian main course dish which can be served with bread or tossed pasta. This is similar to our Indian version of Kofta Curry.
Preparation Time : 30 minutes
Serves : 4-6 persons
Stale white loaf / bread : 6-7 slices
Eggs : 3
Parmesan cheese : 1 cup
Parsley / Coriander leaves : 3 tablespoon chopped
Refined / Olive oil for deep frying
Onion : 2 large chopped
Celery / Spring Onion white : 2 sticks chopped
Red capsicum/ bell pepper : 1 chopped
Fresh Tomato Puree : 1 cup
Salt as per taste
Pepper / Kali Mirch powder : 1/2 teaspoon
For preparing the egg and cheese balls, soak the Stale bread in enough water for 2-3 minutes, press and remove excess water and crumble it into small pieces and put it in a big bowl. Add the Parmesan cheese and mix well with hand. Now add the eggs and mix. Add the Parsley or chopped coriander, mix well and make small round or flat balls.
Heat oil in a kadhai or pan and deep fry till golden brown. Drain excess oil and keep aside.
For the sauce, heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a pan and add the onion, Celery or spring Onion whites and red bell pepper. Saute for 3-4 minutes. Add the fresh tomato puree and season with salt and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes. Add a little water if required. Put in the cheese and Egg balls, simmer for around 3-4 minutes.
Garnish with chopped Parsley or coriander and cheese and serve hot.
