When you have sudden guests at home this recipe is a saviour. These instant idlis do not require any fermentation and tastes delicious when served with a cup of tea or coffee. Try it out for yourself!!
Preparation Time : 20 minutes
Serves : 4-6 persons
Semolina / Suji / Rava : 1 cup
Refined flour / Maida : 1/2 cup
Sugar : 2 tablespoons / Sugar free : 1 tablespoons
Milk : 1 cup
Salt : a pinch
Refined oil for greasing
Baking powder : 1/4 teaspoon
Cherries / Raisins / Cashews : 2 tablespoons, chopped (optional)
Water as required
In a bowl mix in the Suji, Salt, Maida, Sugar or Sugar free whichever you are using and mix well. Add in the milk and prepare a pancake like batter. Add in a little water if required. Mix well. Add in the nuts and baking powder. Mix well.
Grease the Idli moulds with a little oil and pour a spoonful of batter into each mould. Now steam in a rice cooker, steamer or pressure cooker without the whistle for 10 minutes and check with a toothpick. If the toothpick comes out clean then the idlis are ready to be served with a cup of hot tea or coffee!
