Tandoori Chicken prepared in Microwave

Tandoori chicken is the most loved starter by all Non Vegetarians. Its is tasty as well as healthy as the amount of fat used in preparation of the chicken starter is very less. Even tough the whole task of making tandoori chicken seems tiresome, it takes just 45 minutes to prepare it once the chicken is properly marinated.

Tandoori Chicken prepared in Microwave

Preparation time: 45 minutes.
Serves: 4 persons.

Ingredients:
1 skinned Chicken cut into Quarters
2 tablespoon Lemon Juice
1 tablespoon Garlic paste
1 tablespoon Ginger paste
1/2 teaspoon Red chilli powder
2 tablespoon tandoori masala/ grounded spice mix mixed in little water
1 cup beaten Yogurt/Dahi
1 teaspoon Cumin/ Jeera powder
1 teaspoon Coriander/ Dhania powder
1 teaspoon Garam masala powder
1 tsp Salt
A few drop of Orange Food Colouring (optional)
2 tablespoon melted butter for basting

Method:

Make 3-4 slits in each chicken quarter using a knife. Now rub the chicken pieces with lemon juice and salt and keep aside. For the marination, in a big bowl, add the Yogurt and all other ingredients except the melted butter. Now cover the marinated chicken with an aluminium foil and let it get marinated for a minimum of hours to 24 hours. The more the chicken pieces rests in the marinade the more tastier it gets when grilled.

When the chicken in marinated for long enough, put the pieces into skewers. If you have a tandoor/ barbeque then grill the chicken over hot charcoal basting with melted butter occasionally. The chicken would be ready in 15 minutes.

In case, you do not have a Tandoor, you can still use you microwave to prepare this chicken starter. Preheat the microwave oven at 350 degree Celsius. Now place the marinated chicken on a tray basted with melted butter and put them on the higher rack of the microwave. Remember to remove the skewers while using a microwave. Now grill on High for around 15 minutes on one side and turn around bast with melted butter and grill for another 10 minutes. Now place the chicken pieces on the lower Grill rack and grill for 3 to 5 minutes to make the chicken crispy.

You tandoori chicken is just ready to be served.

Garnish with Lemon Wedges and Onion rings and serve hot with mint chutney.
